Jean shares that Patty had come to San Diego for a Reiki treatment following her first chemo session. She had commented that it was traumatic seeing her hair start falling out. She had not done reiki on the 1st chemo medication. I reminded her that would ease the effects and to start treating the next session of chemo. I also spoke of how empowering it is when you make a choice around shaving your head and to create ceremony.
Patty shares her beautiful experience:
I had my 2nd chemo treatment today. I asked to be given some time with the 2 IV drip bags that contained my chemo drugs so that I might Reiki them. The oncology nurse asked me why because Reiki is something for people. I told her no, that Reiki is for everything. She wanted to say something else but, agreed to let me have them to Reiki before they were placed in my body. When I first held them, they felt cold and lifeless. As Reiki began to fill them, I could literally feel a free flowing (not of fluids) but of energy contained in the fluid(s). I am home resting now and sending Reiki to my cramping tummy.
My hair loss seemed to have hit a speed warp over the weekend and I followed suit with Phyllis Furumoto. I called my hair girl (a good friend) and had it shaved off yesterday. It was traumatic at first but when I saw myself in the mirror with a half-shaven head, I paused a moment from my tears and then burst out into laughter; it was one of the funniest things I had ever seen! So much so, that I had my friend capture it on camera as well as the mohawk we managed before the final product: BALD. What a fun and liberating experience!!
Thank you Patty for sharing a part of your healing steps and experiencing the support of Reiki.
