Our Family Matriarch -- Babe (Adrienne) Mueller
Saturday, March 20, 2010
Growing up she was always called Baby Sister, but Babe (Adrienne) is my mother's cousin, making her our first cousin once removed. She was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1919 and has lived her entire 90 years there. She has always been a special member of the family and known for her kind, gentle and fun loving personality. So when her health started to severely fail this month, everyone high tailed it to San Antonio to assist in Babe's care. We had 5 Reiki trained family members on hand with Jean Ferris, Reiki Master orchestrating care.
With her failing kidneys and rapidly falling blood pressure, she was transferered to an in house Hospice unit.
On one particular evening, I remained at the house, while her son and daughter went back to visit her. They called, as Babe was very restless in spite of all their efforts and asked if I could send a distant treatment. They told Babe what I was doing and in a few seconds, she said quite emphatically,"its not working". They reassured her that it would work and her son stated since the Hospice unit was several miles away and it would take some more time. Her son reported that he was becoming drowsy and thought, in his usual funny manner, that I had missed the target. Then, they noticed in a few minutes, her body started to relax, her tension started to diminish, her eyelids became droopy and she immediately fell asleep. This dramatic response, surprised them and at the same time reassured them, in the mystical power of Reiki. Several days later, while Babe was drifting in and out, she said, "can you tell me what Reiki does?" I answered her as simply as I could.
I'm back home now and feel very happy that I have Reiki in my life to support myself and others. It was an incredible honor to be able to partake in Babe's care; giving back to her all that love she shared with us thoroughout our lives. She is continuing to wear her matriarchal crown with dignity, as she journeys home to her maker. Blessings, Babe, you are loved by so many people and have touched so many people's hearts in your 90 years of joyous living.
